History

More than 1000 years ago, the base of Podere Vecci arise. At an altitude of almost 300 meters, a watchtower was built around the year 900 with a view of the valley.

Podere Vecci is located on via Frascole , an ancient trade route of the Etruscans. We are very proud that the foundations of the watchtower are still completely intact and partly form the basis of our house. This cellar is now used for the storage of wine and is certainly accessible to anyone who wants to admire this piece of special history.

Around 1760, part of the house was built on the foundation of the watchtower. To this day, that construction is still completely intact. In the early 1800’s a stable was added, located behind the house.

The family who lived here at the time owned many houses and land in the area. In 1999 the house with stable was purchased by the Vecci family . After a renovation of several

years in which the house was provided with a new roof, new windows and doors and a completely new pipeline network for electricity, gas and water and the stable was converted into 2 large apartments, the opening of Podere Vecci took place in 2002.

In 2011, we stayed with our family for the first time in one of the apartments and we fell in love with this magical place immediately. Up to and including 2017 we were regular guests and, in addition to the summer holidays, we sometimes came in the spring and autumn.

In 2018 we heard that the Podere Vecci was for sale. In the end we were lucky enough on September 15 2021 and we are the current owners of Podere Vecci , a large house with 2 beautiful apartments with of course an incredibly beautiful terrace with swimming pool overlooking the valley.

On Monday 21 February 2022 we received the keys and started refurbishing our accommodation. With a lot of help from our children Mees and Cas and some dear friends, we are able to offer the apartments for rent in mid-June and to start living in our house.
