Who are they?

In 2011, Rob and Doreen were infected by the Italy virus and the house in Dicomano in particular. A lovely place, away from all the hustle and bustle. Where life is still pleasant, as the Italians once thought of it. A place with time for a good conversation, a delicious meal or a fantastic glass of wine. And if the wine is not quite that, Rob will open another bottle without any problem. Rob, the great regulator (and sometimes hustler himself, because he always gets it done) who loves cooking, wine and food. Loves to walk, knows and explores the neighborhood like the back of his hand and knows where you can find the best funghi. He knows that because he takes space and time for it, but also gets it. From Doreen. Not literally, because she is the engine that keeps things going in the background. Arranges the bookings, ensures that everything is in-house that is needed. And at the same time can be a listening ear and a nice conversation partner. Rob and Doreen live their dream together: receiving guests in complete freedom. Summed up in hospitality. To me Doreen and Rob are dream chasers. Since the beginning of their relationship, they have traveled the world, married in Thailand and ran a hotel in New Zealand, among other things. When the kids
were born, they settled in the Netherlands and accidentally ended up in Dicomano at Podere Vecci during a summer holiday. They fell in love with it, been there many times and always told enthusiastic stories about it.
And when Rob jokingly told me that it was for sale and said “how nice would it be if we can make sure that others will enjoy this place too” I knew they were going to chase this dream too. They did it. When you will sit at the table with them, it is wonderful to hear their dream stories, the searches for truffles, the surprising tips of the area, the wine recommendations and all their other stories. It is a lovely couple who have created a dream place.
