Dicomano
Where the Comano stream flows into the Sieve , you will find Dicomano . In Dicomano , the peaks of the Apennines slowly turn into low hills of green forests. Historic villas dot the fields, including Podere Vecci , surrounded by olive groves and rows of vines.
One of the special sights is the parish church of Santa Maria, a Romanesque building from the 1100s. In this church are important works of art, such as a glazed polychrome terracotta from the 1500s BC Santi di Buglione , a pietra serena pulpit and several paintings of the Ghirlandaio school. Unique to this church is the casket (the reliquary) containing ashes and the blood of St. Hilary. Another important religious building is the Oratory of Sant’Onofrio , one of the most surprising examples of Italian neoclassical architecture.
Dicomano is a village marked by history, including traces of the Etruscan civilization. The Archaeological Museum is interesting to visit, home to prehistoric and Etruscan artefacts from the Mugello and Val di Sieve . Equally captivating is a journey into the past in the archaeological area in Frascole , within walking distance of Podere vecci . Here the foundations of the church of San Martino were discovered and most likely also an Etruscan fortress.
Foreste National Park Casentinesi , Monte Falterona , Campgna
This park is just over 25 km from Dicomano . The park’s forests are among the most extensive and best-preserved in Italy. A unique variety of nature, history (which dates back to the Etruscans), and biodiversity. In the park you will find, among other things, the noble / dam deer , wild boar , wolf , badger , stone marten , fox https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vos_(dier), little owl , tawny owl , eagle owl , circling bunting and golden eagle and much more. The park has many different hiking trails. One of the routes ends at the Acquacheta Falls . Within the vast area of the Park there are villages, monasteries, lakes, shrines and an incredible nature. A visit to the Cosentino Park is a great experience.

Is one of the most important thermal baths in Europe . The water from the springs is said to have a beneficial effect on the liver and digestive system. Since 2021 , the spa has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of the historic spas of Europe .

Siena
With a beautiful medieval townscape, Sienna is one of the most popular visited cities in Italy. Known worldwide for its beauty and architecture, Piazza del Campo is considered one of the most beautiful medieval squares in Europe. Horse races have been held on this square since 1287. The races will take place on July 2 and August 16.


Lake Bilancino
A beautiful lake of 5 km², surrounded by green hills and picturesque medieval villages. Beach life is limited to 1 place where the cozy Bahia Café can be found. Nice place for recreation with good food and regular parties on weekends. Surfboards and canoes are rented here.


San Gimignano
San Gimignano is known for its special medieval architecture and the 14 towers that dominate the silhouette of the city. The Piazza della Cisterna (square of the well) is mentioned in the same breath as the ice cream parlor of Sergio Dondoli , which according to many enthusiasts makes the best ice cream in the world.

From the station in Dicomano (where you can park your car for free) a direct train leaves twice an hour to the center of Florence. You can reach your destination in just over half an hour and you can walk to the Duomo in a few minutes . You simply must have been to Florence.

Scarperia
of the most beautiful villages in Italy is located 29 km from Dicomano . Visit the beautiful Palazzo dei Vicari and admire its facade which bears the numerous coats of arms of the rulers of Scarperia . In this village, also called ‘Town of knives ‘, beautiful people have been handcrafted since 1306.


Circuit of Mugello
The Autodromo . is about 20 km from Dicomano International del Mugello . This is a race track which is used by a number of motorcycle racing classes. The MotorGP will also take place at the end of May. In 1974 Ferrari bought the track to test their cars. On September 13, 2020, the circuit was used for the first time for Formula 1.

Outlet Barberino
Nice, beautifully situated outlet with colored shop buildings on a canal with bridges. A wide range of shops and cozy restaurants. Plenty of free parking. There is a pleasant atmosphere. All major brands are represented.
